Juliana Adams is a 2022 IFMA Education Foundation scholarship recipient. She attends Michigan State University and is studying Biomedical and Molecular Nutritional Sciences and Plant Biology with a minor in Sustainable Food and Agriculture Systems.

Juliana’s program: Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical and Molecular Nutritional Sciences and Plant Biology.

Juliana’s story:

I grew up on a small sheep farm in Battle Creek, Michigan, love distance running, and have a passion for nutritional sciences and food systems. I spent a lot of time at Michigan State’s campus with 4-H, FFA and summer camps throughout middle school and high school. I am really excited to...be a student at a university that I had always loved.

For the past two years, I have had the opportunity to work on the Student Organic Farm and have learned so much about produce farming and local food systems. I have really enjoyed the opportunity to take home some of the extra produce and explore different cooking techniques and recipes.

Last year, I was able to participate in an honors research lab. My research project, which was presented at the Undergraduate Research Conference, focused on the economic practices and career satisfaction of Michigan organic produce farmers

How the scholarship will help Juliana, in her own words:

I feel very honored and appreciative to be the recipient of your scholarship. I am excited to further my education as a double major in Biomedical and Molecular Nutritional Sciences and Plant Biology with a minor in Sustainable Food and Agriculture Systems at Michigan State University. I hope to attend graduate school and one day connect both of my majors in a career in the food industry.
