NEW ORLEANS — IFMA’s Education Foundation presented a contribution in the amount of $25,000 to the New Orleans Culinary & Hospitality Institute (NOCHI), on the eve of IFMA’s COEX Conference in New Orleans. The donation was presented by IFMA President and CEO, Larry Oberkfell and IFMA Chairman and President of Nestlé Professional North America, Perry Miele.

A check was presented to NOCHI Founder and Proprietor of Commander’s Palace, Ti Martin, and NOCHI Director, Leah Sarris, during IFMA’s Board of Directors dinner Saturday night at NOCHI.  The Education Foundation’s contribution will support the mission of the nonprofit institute to educate a diverse community of learners to sustain an ever-evolving hospitality industry.

NOCHI is at the forefront of culinary and hospitality learning, offering accelerated vocational-style programs, continuing education, professional development, and enthusiast courses for home cooks of all skill levels. The nonprofit organization offers a platform for professional and personal growth, increasing access and minimizing barriers to career pathways while supporting the promotion and economic development of the culinary arts and hospitality industry. With a deep appreciation for food’s cultural and historical context, NOCHI works to enrich and diversify New Orleans’s centuries-old legacy of hospitality. Through innovative programming and strategic partnerships, they aim to be a national leader and educational hub.

IFMA’s Education Foundation, is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to giving qualified culinary, marketing, sales, supply chain, and food science students financial support toward completion of education requirements through accredited institutions, enabling career-oriented internships and employment opportunities within IFMA member companies and throughout the food industry. The Education Foundation has promised to ensure 100% of donor contributions go toward funding scholarship and educational programs
