Emanuel Prado is a 2022 IFMA Education Foundation scholarship recipient. He attends the Culinary Institute of America, Hyde Park, NY and is studying culinary arts.
Emanuel’s story:
He was inspired to pursue his education by ”seeing how much joy and impact my cooking brought to those around me.” Emanuel also realized that his love of mathematics and science was a great fit with a culinary career. "I love seeing how this program mixes different aspects of math, science, and food to reinvent the food of tomorrow. I also choose this program because I want to either be a test kitchen professional or open my own restaurant where I can use science to create something amazing and new.”
Lacking financial resources to cover the costs of his education has been a stress on Emanuel and his family. The scholarship from IFMA’s Education Foundation has reduced those fears. He understands there are people behind the scholarship that care about his future, “Receiving this scholarship also shows me that there are people out there who support me and want to see me succeed. This scholarship has impacted my life so much.”
How the scholarship will help Emanuel, in his own words:
“At first, I was not sure how I would make ends meet next semester but through this scholarship, I find comfort and peace in knowing that my family and I will not have to worry about finding ways to pay for my education...Thanks to this scholarship, I will not have to worry about taking out loans and having student loan debts after college.”
