The emergence of Millennials and Gen Z is creating tremendous difficulty on every side of the foodservice industry, from declining customer foot traffic and stagnant sales. These massive, diverse generations think differently about food, beverages, dining out, foodservice marketing, and foodservice brands than any previous generation.

At the same time, Millennials and Gen Z are determinant to the future of the entire foodservice industry. Millennials are quickly becoming the largest generation of employees in foodservice. Gen Z is already the new group of food trendsetters.

The foodservice industry has realized that Millennials and Gen Z are not going to “grow out of it” and behave like other generations. Instead, Millennials and Gen Z are the ones influencing older generations to act like them! They are technology dependent, setting the stage for the “new-norm”. This is true in both sales and employment patterns of legacy foodservice brands and startups alike.

However, foodservice leaders do not need any more tracking data. They have plenty of data that tells them what actions Millennials and Gen Z have taken in the past as customers and employees.

What foodservice industry leaders need now is to uncover the why—the hidden drivers—behind these actions and how to use them to influence future behavior.

In partnership with IFMA, Jason Dorsey, Co-Founder and Chief Strategy Officer at The Center for Generational Kinetics will uncover top-line findings from a proprietary, first-of-its-kind research study, fielded exclusively for IFMA and unveiled at the 2017 Presidents Conference. Access to the full research study will be available after the November program. The study will dive deep into eating habits of Gen Z, including:

  1. Gen Z’s eating habits and how they differ from other age groups
  2. How Gen Z consumers are making their dining decisions and what role does technology play?
  3. The most impactful communication methods to reach Gen Z foodservice consumers
